Sure, but if you have to have a DOT card to work somewhere, you have to take a physical every year.

As long as your BP is under 140(1st#)you can get a medical card which is good for 2yrs.But DOT rules change with the wind,so get a card.

In TN you can't keep a CDL without a medical card. I wasn't driving years back and they wouldn't let me keep my CDL until I went to the DR. and got a medical card. I don't have a BP problem buy my driving partner takes meds for BP. He syill only has to go for a Med. card every 2 years. All of this is about to change so nothing we tell you will ne right in a few months probably.

............I just renewded my Cl for a 5 year term. Are the DOT rules going to go thru another complete revision whereby they basically cancel all Cl's IF you aren't actually driving a Comm. Vehicle like they previously did ? , thanks , fordy

If your medication controls your BP then you can probably pass the physical.
If its to high they can give you a restricted pass, one friend of mine had to retake his phyisacal every 2 MONTHS!
In IL they dont care if you have the medical when you get the CDL it just isnt commercially valid with out one.

Here's the next thing coming down the pike. Here in TN you used to be able to renew without a medical card but that changed about 10 years ago.

BP meds helped most of my CDL physical patients KEEP their licenses. Just so there are no fainting side effects and the BP is good, high BP keeps you from driving.

My Dh has a number of Lic. because he works for the RD CM. He takes BP's and I suspect many of the guy's do, that work with him.
