your choice of canister vac?

My old Eureka migty mite is likely on its way out. I posted in "Shop" for repair advice. If the better choice is buy a new one, what do you like? I have a good-quality upright, so I'm looking for ideas on small canisters. Effectiveness is more important to me than onboard parts storage, ease of rolling/pulling, etc. Thanks, Sue

We like our Rainbow, that we bought used at a garage sale. Don't know if you would call it a canister vac or not, but we use it a lot and like the job it does.

I bought a Progressive at Sears about 6 months ago and I love it!!!! They have a couple different models/price ranges mostly because of the different attachments. They go on sale quite a bit.

The Dyson is a great system! They also have a 5 year warranty which is super great too! We have 2 of them and 1 of them we use to vacuum 10,000 sq. ft 2 times per week and have been using it for several years now. The filters are washable and are suppost to last a lifetime too.
We clean carpet for a living and we replaced our big heavy commercial vacs with dysons...they are lighter, cost way less and just work better.

If you get one, make sure it is new and not refurbished because the refurbished ones only have a 6mo warrenty (some companies sell refurbished only).

I've had a series of mighty-mites. The relationships wore out before the vacuum did. I just bought a new one. Can't beat 'em for places where you have to carry the canister, like stairs.

I have a rainbow vac and love it especially having animals in the house...you would NOT believe the stuff it picks up and how dirty the water gets after each use every week...really good at picking up dog & cat hair and not blowing it back thru the house...

WIHH...I mean "we"....also have a backpack vac. Talk about convenience! She....I mean, "we"....can vacuum steps, the tops of cabinets, use it on ladders or while standing on a chair, etc with no problems. Don't you just hate pulling that canister around, with it running into walls, and having to carry it up and down steps, etc. If so, consider a backpac vac. There are great commercial models that are used by resturants, the airline industry, etc.

This is the company that made ours ==> http://www.pro-team.com/
