Low-cost Grain/Corn/Cereal Mill

I have been wanting to play around with one so bought one on eBay from seller pentagontools. What I receive WAY exceeded my expectations. Heavy-duty cast iron for the most part. Adjustable grinding burr setting. Good sized hopper.

Took a couple of minutes to grind over a cup of dried whole kernel corn into a flour consistency. (Had to shift and double-grind since I set the burrs too far apart initially and got cracked corn.) I suspect it would actually be easier on the burrs to double grind.

I'm impressed and I don't impress easily.

Don't see a brand name nor where manufacturered - but for the price, no doubt Asia. Just says Model No500.

Cost was less than $30 delivered. And, if you bid, don't go higher than $18.50. If you are outbid they will likely come back at you with a Second Chance Offer at $18.50.

No, this one is far more robust. Larger hopper but no cover over burrs.

Same basic design though? The burr cover and hopper size varies considerably with the manufacturer but they're all basically the original Corona design.

Makes for a good corn mill to make meal with. Can even make bread flour if you're willing to sift and regrind the chunky bits. Gets to be a work out on the cranking arms if you need more than a few cups of flour at a time.

Has to be clamped to a solid, heavy or well secured work surface. Be sure not to overtighten as it can snap the clamp off.

It should have been eBay seller pentagontool, rather than pentagontools.

Check their current listings and they do not have any listed. Went into their past sales and a bunch didn't bring the opening $.05 bid. May be waiting to relist more until after the holidays.

Added: Contacted this seller. They are simply out of stock, which is why they ended listings for them early. They expect a resupply around the last of January 2010.
