Sold My Timber

Loggers were just here,looked over what I had,offerd me a fair price.Like they said the only thing bringing any money is RR Ties.

I'll get the Logs out,cut the Tops up for Firewood,burn the Underbrush.Let it grow back up have Browse for the Deer and Green for Turkeys.

I hope you worked this through a state or county forester. Many places get "highgraded" where the loggers take only the best timber and leave the garbage standing. In most even growth stands, the smaller trees are not younger, they are just genetically inferior. Also, skidders can cause teriffic damage....your contract should contain specific regulations to where they can travel and a clause stating the requiremnts to repair damage done.

If the loggers got a timber deed did you limit the time period for the harvest? Many loggers will get an extended time period (3 years) to harvest and grow the timber at your expense.

This is the only Logger around here that will cut this.My Son has worked for him.He knows that I have logged before and what I'm wanting done.Alot of my Trees are in Bad shape from Fire and Ice Damage.

Skidding he is going to cut a road giving me access and Fire Break where I need it into part of the property.Got some Pines I wanted him to not bother and he said that was ok.

He is going to have it cut this next month long as the ground freezes.Like I told him we would take care of the Tops.

NOW, DW can retire. She will not need to worry about being laid off, she can just live like a Queen.

I wish! Probably go towards fixing up the Cabin so if we move up there.

Got a Feather Factory moving into where her work place is closing.I asked if she would go to work there? She said no because it won't pay enough.She is thinking about really trying to find something up by the Cabin.

Had someone offer me a good price for this Farm today,with or without the Timber.They are just wanting the Land.

Don't know.I asked them to wait until after the first of the year and get back with me.It all depends on where my wife finds work at this time.

Truth many may not believe this if extra money comes in I try to treat her like a Queen but she will not hear of it if money is tight.
