Do you qualify for USAA? We switched from State Farm to USAA about 8 or 10 years ago & not only saved money, but have been very satisfied with their customer service.

I re-quote mine every year, just an old "factory habit", but so far Farmers has come thru.
Usually my insurance company will match any other offer.
I also "bundle" all vehicles, house, boats, 4 wheelers, personal liability, and identify theft.

I had Geico for over 20 years and just switched to Farm Bureau last year. They were able to beat Geico's price and I could bundle my home and vehicles. BTW, I drive about 90-100 miles each day for work and Geico actual suggested that they could match Farm bureau's price if I only said I drove 25 miles a day ! That would work real well if I was in an accident and they checked my mileage!

Ask around and see how they pay, check for local adjusters and claims agents.

I actually switched us to farm bureau this year and cut our ins bill in half! I bundled both our vechiles and our house ins together, plus got a rate cut for having good credit.
Two weeks later, my DH got in an accident (not his fault) and they have been great!

Call places and ask for a rate quote.
Different companies are better at different times of your life and varies also by location.
State Farm has been good for us, but we're in our 50's.
Be careful of Geico, They offer a low rate to get you to switch then the next year it goes up drastically - at least thats what happened to me a few years back.

Travelers was about 1/2 the cost of Alfa, which was about 1/3 less than State Farm. We'll see what happens to those rates next period. I left the trailer hitch on the car and DW backed into a new car.

state farm and others couldn't beat our Credit union prices..which are really low..but our credit union used to give us the best house ins also..but they changed companies and now we get that through Farm Bureau

You just have to call around and request quotes in your area. Some companies have better claims experience in certain areas and offer better deals.
A friend of mine that lives in KS, used to call around every 6 months, maybe still does. She lives super frugal and said hey better $30 or whatever in her pocket than the insurance companies. And it would vary between companies over time. Usually one of three companies would be lowest at any particular time.
Also beware some companies...cough GEICO cough... would lowball to get customer, then slowly raise rates over time figuring wouldnt be enough for customer to do work of getting new quotes. Sort of equivalent of putting frog in pan cool water and slowly raising the heat..... Also had elderly friend who had GEICO for years, then had an accident. Suddenly his 6 month premium went from few hundred to $4000. He had become persona non-grata and their way of discouraging him from renewing.

USAA has recently expanded their qualifying options (again) so if you didn't qualify in the past you might now. Latest qualifier is all veterans who served honorably. We've been with them for decades and can't imagine switching.
