Grain Huller

Have any of you made one of these? I'm trying to figure out how thick the rubber disk needs to be.

We made one a year ago.

The rubber would not hold in place. It curled and pealed loose.

We tried multiple times.

I have a tire inner tube that I used to make the rubber gasket from [really looks more like a washer]. I think that to try again, I would find a harder and thicker piece of rubber.

I think a piece of rubber belting would work best, I can see how a light weight piece would roll up. Maybe something like a round baler belt?? Thanks Marc

A belt will do fine but rice is very abrasive so you will have to change it a lot of times. The only problem is where to get brown rice. I could get it by going to a combine that was harvesting it but most of the people don't live where it is grown. Wheat and millet are not so abrasive so will last longer.
