Can a car run upside down
Can a cars motor still run why it's up side down? I'm talking new cars with EFI.

Not for long. The oil pump inlet would probably be sucking air out of the bottom of the oil pan. The engine would probably seize fairly quickly.

I'm disappointed in your response Oggie......I was fully expecting you to say something about those evil cats that
walk out into the pathway of said vehicle and would have caused the driver to swerve and thus ended upside down.......
But really......wouldn't you get better performance if the wheels are touching the pavement?

Why do you ask?..............
Sorry but a question like that begs for details.
I know the knobs on the radio are backwards, when your upside down, and the dash speaker is pretty close to your head....but hey, that's another story

I would say yes, but for a very brief period of time. Oil would flood into the manifold and go into the pistons. The gas pump is on the bottom of the tank.

A ford powerstroke engine can run at least 30 minutes.

I wasn't in the SUV but to make a long story short. Deer laying down in middle of lane on a dark 2 lane road. My wife rolled here Yukon on it's roof. She's a little sore but fine thank God. I got there about 20 Min's later i believe it was still running so i shut it off.

It's a Christmas miracle!
Though, I'm thinking that you'd probably rather have more swerving-without-roling-over ability than stay-running-while-upside-down ability.
I'm glad that your wife wasn't seriously hurt.

Not quite sure I follow your line of thinking Ken.
There is no direct path from the manifold to oil other than valve guides and past the rings of the pistons. Unless of course I'm not thinking properly and like everyone I have been wrong before.
Anyway, would you explain your thinking more as you may very well be right and I just need it pointed out to me.

That's scary. I'm glad your wife is okay.
For a minute, I thought my son had registered and posted. He's 8 and always asking me questions like this.

Not likely , even my old 1985 AMC Eagle has a rollover check valve that shuts off the fuel flow in the event of a rollover . It's mounted right in front of the gas tank on the Eagle . I haven't checked on my newer vehicles but I'm sure they have something that shuts them down .

In a big Really BIG Wire Cage..........
I've seen Motorcycles do it at Daredevil Shows.
But I think, because It's going round pretty fast, to keep from Falling,
the Oil stays in the pan, by centrifical force.
It ran for quite a while..
I think if the cage were a lot bigger a car could maybe do it too...

if she had a full tank of gas - so that the fuel pump might still be getting gas when upside down
if there is a low oil presure sending unit it must not have been tripped
the crash fuel shut off must not have tripped
people think engines need oil to run , when the cash for clunkers program was distroying cars they had to drain the oil then add a cilica sand and something solution and even with stuff specificaly desinged to ruin an engine they would run for somthimes 15-20 minutes
