Troy Bilt Bronco 5.5hp

Saw one of these listed for $400.00 OBO. It is a 2006. Does anyone have one of these? Any comments, good or bad?

2006 would make it a MTD, not a true old Troy bilt. I would not give over 100-150 for it.

Which way do the tines rotate? If it is forward only, IMO you will be throwing your money away.

I had one bought in 2001, second biggest piece of crap I ever owned. It never worked like it should and nothing like the real TB. MTD bought the name and slapped it on their POS junk. Even in well worked soil and an extra ten lb weight on the front, that thing would lift the front and take off across the yard. I'd fight and fight, tried lots of things over the course of 5 years and two properties and never liked it.

I thought it was such a POS that I could not even sell it with a clear conscience, so I've sold parts off it and DH took the engine to use for something else. The frame is sitting in the scarp metal pile right now. But I love my Craftsman - I currently have a 4,000 sq foot garden too.

OK. I ruled that one out. My 20 year old Sears died this fall so I have to get another one by spring. Any suggestions?

BCS - expensive, but you can occasionally find them used. Built like tanks with a variety of attachments that can be used in addition to a tiller box.

What is BCS?

I found them. They look great but out of my price range.

I have a 1990 TB Pony. I'm not sure when MTD bought out TB, but I love this tiller. Has forward and reverse. I've had to replace the tines once and put a bumper around the engine, but it has never given me a bit of problem
