Need advice on log splitter

Does anyone use an electric or manual log splitter? How long have you had one, and how do you like it? I have had good luck with DR products, and am considering getting one from them, but there's so many splitters on the market.....hard to decide. I'm an older woman, and want a safe, easy splitter (can't depend on my son all the time). Thanks for any info.

I bought a Ryobi electric log splitter at home depot 2 yrs ago and have split about 6 cords with it. Mainly maple, pine, elm. Some of the pine rounds were 28" plus and caused trouble. I needed to try multiple spots before getting it to split a section. Sometimes you run into a stringy crotch section that is very hard to split also. For the majority of the wood it worked fine. I built a small platform for mine so I didn"t need to bend over all day and that helped a lot. I would actually recommend this if you do not split a bunch of wood or anything too large dia. Hope this helps. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask.
