You mean a metal detector? Like, he lost them outside? I really like my Garret Ace 250.

If you mean some kind of clapper or keychain, then I'm not help.

I leave my keys in the sunglasses compartment of my car. I never loose them anymore.

Never used one - but I think its a great idea. We are forever losing the remote for the TV - and some of the kids DVD's only play if you have the remote to make selections from.

I googled it and there are a few different companies that sell them...they fit in your wallet or attach to your keyring. I was just wondering if they really work. One that I looked at I almost bought bought but then noticed it was only good up to 30ft....the other one was good up to 300ft. But, I'm leary to spend $25 on a piece of junk LOL!!

I once had a little doo-dad thingy that hooked onto my keys and if I whistled, it woulld whistle back so I could find them. Only problem was ANY noise would set it off, dog barking, TV noises, work noises, radio in particular, also I at the time had two lovebirds and a small parrot... I need not say more... It went bye-byes in about two days!
Good theory, but not for everyone.

...............Very simple Fix........Multiple sets of keys located in obvious places too IDiot proof those with forgetful memories ! This happens when the Subconscious mind is running the main computer solving a problem and the individual isn't aware of what the hands are doing ! , fordy

DH use to keep a door key (back when ignition and door keys were not the same) in his wallet. He also kept one of those magnetic hide a key boxes on his frame with a ignition key.

Stop helping him try to find them. Just set up a key hook next to the door, sweetly tell him what you have done to "help" him. Next time he looses his keys - take a looong bath. He'll learn it's his problem, not yours.

Amazing what happens when you stop "helping" irresponsibility.

I mount a spare key behind the license plate using the screw in the plate to hold the key out of sight. If it is the type key with the code built in the key I just have a dollar key made with the same pattern and mount the key the same way. The plain key will not start the vehicle but it will open the door and can be used as a pattern to make the coded key. On some vehicles you can tape a coded key out of sight but near the ignition key slot* and any properly cut key of the non-coded variety will start the car. *If you only have one coded key using this trick can save as much as $70 for getting a spare coded key.

I lost my keys one early spring, and spent the summer wondering where they were and looking for them.

When fall came around, I found them just where I left them...in my winter coat pocket!!!!!

Well, no luck finding them He called the dealer and they have to have the car to make a new key...which will mean having it towed 40 miles away. UGH!!!!

All they need is the VIN tag surely!! Besides I'm sure they're under the foot of the bed where they fell out of his pocket.

They say that they can make a key with the VIN number but that will only unlock the steering wheel...won't start it. We are still looking. He had them clipped to the outside of his pants and was working on everything everywhere outside. Any one of the critters could have picked them up and walked off with them. Rocky could have buried them if he found them. Goats could have ate them. We have very curious critters that like to mess with things and make toys out of everything..even the horses.

...............Reprogramming a new key can be done in your driveway ! You stick the new key in the IGnition and use a simple procedure to reprogram , IT ! See IF they won't explain the procedure TOO you , after you buy the key ! Read the owners mauual and see IF it doesn't explain it in there . I'd seek out the procedure off the internet Before I'd pay a Ransom too have your car towed to the dealerShip . , fordy

Oh, Wolf Mom!! A hook will soon be set next to the door. And I just remembered , I still have the bath salts Rose2005 gave me for Christmas last year!

But now what do I do for the wallet, the nasal spray and the eye drops? I keep threatening to knit a little bag to hang around his neck.
