GMC Engine - dump vs pickup

Ok, what is the difference between a 350 dump truck (6000) vs. a 350 pick up engine. I know the dump truck is bigger, because it is in a 5 ton dump truck.

The dump needs a new engine and a 1980 gmc 6000 engine is really hard to find!

The dump truck will have a heavier cam in it and will run about 30 horse power stronger. If your just using it on occassion its not worth the bother of looking for that dump truck engine. Or you can build a heavier 350 yourself.

It's my FIL, he hauls coal, limestone, shale, topsoil with it and sometimes pulls a lowboy with a skidsteer. So it would still be ok for that stuff?

He's semi retired, so it's not used everyday

Well, a 350 was ordered (brand new, the dump gets a new Christmas present!) - hopefully all works well!
