Do You Have a Wood CookStove for Sale?

I'm looking for a used one and I'm So frustrated. I have some unexpected cash-not a lot- but maybe just enough for a used one. I've looked at Craigslist, E-bay, The local Ad Bulletins, and theres nothing for sale thats within my area. I've even called the local auction house.

I need some supplemental heat in the house and I need it soon. So if I don't find my stove pretty quickly the moneys going to go for a new propane heater. I want a cookstove Any body in the WV area got one for sale??
PM me here. I would travel a couple of hours any direction for a good deal. If you know of one in my area could you let me know? I'm basically within 30 minutes of Charleston area.

Thanks so much, Kathy

Try posting a wanted advertisement.
Also be willing to greatly expand your local area to shop since it is not a common item.
Maybe crunch the math to purchase a new on vs. propane costs, propane burner cost and possibly having to repair/rebuild a wood stove.

What type of cook stove do you want? A simple boxwood stove like the Vogelzangs? Or do you want the full blown old fasion cook stove with 4+ burners, oven, water heater, bread warmer?

Whats your budget? The above boxwood stove goes for $75 + shipping (if it was in stock), or less than $200 everywhere else. A full blown "Grandma's cook stove" is going to be a whole lot more, unless you find a really good deal.

I want grandmas stove...lol. I'm looking over the border into Ohio right now. Some fairly good prospects popping up. Like across from Parkersburg WV area. Anybody living over there that posts here?

Try this website:

Hi there,

We couldn't find anything to our liking locally, everything was truly worn out with not much hope for a safe repair. This man goes through the stove, blacks, re-nickels, puts in new cement, in mine he had a new fire box, and a brand new copper reservoir as well. It is a beautiful stove and I will cherish it forever, and it keeps the house really toasty too! It is a relief to have a stove that has no cracks and is freshly sealed so we know where we stood from the start instead of wondering if it would be rusting through or if the crack was going to cause a fire, etc.

He may have more inventory than just whats online, he mentioned to me that he sometimes has the original water heaters that would be placed near the stove to provide household hot water.

He will ship freight, which is what we did, from Maine. Ours was well less than $400 for shipping to NY which was a relief rather than a long road trip with an infant!

Hope this helps, and don't give up! I'm glad I didn't, i have a lovely cookstove and am so glad!

I live outside of Frederick MD. Not sure where you are in WV so this may be too far away. This was in the Frederick craigslist today under Farm and Garden. The price is a good deal and it appears in good condition. http://frederick.craigslist.org/grd/1486675262.html.
Good luck in your search. I have a waterford stanley wood cookstove and I love it.
