Warmest inexpensive to mid-range hiking boot for women?

I had a pair of suede leather hiking boots from the 80's...actually had 2 pairs that I rotated depending on weather. My fav pair for winter was fleece lined with a leather collar and had nice thick rubber soles and red laces. They kept my feet dry and toasty in the winter and I never slipped- even on ice in them plus they provided the ankle support I so desperately need. They both wore out about 3 yrs ago and have since worn leather high top running shoes in the winter- but they just don;t keep my feet very warm and are not good for ice. Now that the boys have grown and moved out- I don;t have anyone to care for animals when my shoes won;t cut it in the deeper snow or ice. I spent last night searching the internet for a pair like the ones I had but not finding any- some are close- but no fleece lining and if I am going to have to spend over $60 for boots- they better be warm. I really prefer suede by the way as they seem a bit dressier than leather for when I go to town for work. So suggestions?

I bought some at Walmart for thirty dollars. Ozark trail, with thinsulate insulation. You might check them out. I have yet to test them out in a true wintertime walking situation, but it look slike they might hold up. Fuzzy insides, and suede outside, rubber bottom part.

Go online to get a value and price comparison. It really depends upon how much you hike, where you hike, how cold/deep the snow, etc. To me, that's a very personal decision. I'd buy the best I could afford as they are an investment for your feet.

I loved my leather Danners when I hiked to Base Camp and probably would still be wearing them if they hadn't been inside my truck when it was stolen.

I do plan to buy the best I can afford, but what I can afford right now is in the $60-$75 range- and that will be my xmas present. I agree...they are an investment. I get lots more done outside and I am less inclined to rush through chores (and possibly miss an animal being a little off) when my feet are warm, dry and comfy. I will look up Danners.
