Bad (mule)

i just got an amazing email about a mule that defended a couple and a pair of dogs in montana. the couple were out riding and had a pair of dogs with them. the man had a rifle and the woman had a camera. a mountain lion was stalking the dogs and the guy decided to shoot to scare the lion. before he could shoot, the mule grabbed the lion by the tail as it charged the dogs and whipped it around in the air, smacking it's head on the ground several times. he stomped on it and pinned it to the ground. he then bit it all over and then grabbed it and tossed it around some more. he returned to the couple as if to say, "ok, let's go now".

there are several pictures taken by the woman that show the mule with the lion by the tail and pinned to the ground being biten by the mule.

it was pretty amazing if true. i had always heard that mules make good watch dogs for the pasture, but i had no idea they had such spunk.

Somewhere I have a series of pictures of a mule fighting a cougar. I'm sure a search would turn them up.

Yep, it did.

I can believe it. Even my miniature donkeys will attack a dog. Cats are generally too smart to get near them.

I saw a sign and a staked out donkey at the end of a driveway this past Sunday. The sign read: FREE donkey 11 mounths old. At the gas station just at the end of that housing development. I said something about it to three men standing there talking. One of those men said that donkey is crazy. It attacks every dog it sees. They need to shoot it instead of give it away.
Maybe I need to go back and get the donkey if it is still there.

Way to go mule.I would have thought the mule would have spooked and run away.Seems the mule is putting those two cat dogs to shame in the picture.

Doy? If you meant "dog" that's real normal for donkeys. They do NOT like dogs, coyotes, & wolves. They're not wild about cats either, but they don't try to kill them. At least mine don't.

If I were you, I'd take the donkey. Geld him, if he isn't already, & get a donkey friend for him. Donkeys don't like being alone.

I saw this a couple of years ago.... seems like one of the dogs has a radio collar on it indicating that it was part of the hunting party that treed the cougar. Cougar was dead but it still was pretty dang brave of that mule to jump on the carcass....

I don't know about mules but it is very true of donkeys. My DD has a miniature donkey in with her horses and cows. She had one horse to get down and she went to check on it and the donkey was agressive toward her when she tried to check on the horse. She decided she needed to get out of the pasture and did but he followed her all the way with his ears laid back and being threatening. He had bonded with this old horse when she first got him and he was just protecting him because he knew something was wrong. She also has to keep her dogs away from him because he will stomp them to death.

In the first picture, that cat doesn't look dead, despite what snopes says....

That is what I have always heard too. Which is why they are suppose to be good protection from coyotes.
