Which glue?

I have an old table about 1865 and the pins are pulling out. What kind of glue to put it back together?

If the thing is a valuable antique, the "correct" thing to do is to use a glue that is reversible, such as hide glue. If it's a user, and you just want the thing to stay together forever, gorilla glue will do it.

Gorilla glue expands as it dries, sometimes pushing things out of alignment. If it is a user, just use Elmers wood glue, and hold or clamp in place for 8-10 hrs.

If it were that old I'd try to find some hide glue. If some day you find out it is worth something as an antique the value will be chopped way down if it is held together with gorilla glue.

First take apart the offending part and remove the old glue.. You can find hide glue from an artist supply store that sells stuff for egg tempura.

Another vote here for Elmer's wood glue.

Hide glue crystalizes and becomes brittle with age. That is the reason the table is coming apart.

Take the pin out, clean off old glue and re-glue using a small amount of Elmer's regular wood glue. Using Elmer's (regular) wood glue won't hurt the table's value as long as you don't use too much and you keep it off of the finish.
