Electric usage, Stovetop or microwave

I've been reheating coffee on the stove or leaving in on low ofter perking and began wonder if it would be cheaper microwaving it a cup at a time? Anyone know?
Thanks,
L.A.

Make as much as you will drink in 4 hours or more, then put it HOT in a thermos, it will be the cheapest way to do it.

From what I understand, as a general rule, using a microwave, toaster oven, etc. is more cost effective than using the kitchen stove.

If you have an electric stove, you have to wait for the burners to heat up before you can heat your coffee. 60-70 seconds in a microwave is far faster and I believe the energy draw is far less in comparison.

My sister researched using a toaster oven for things that could be baked in that vs baking in her electric oven. Said there's a considerable savings. Don't remember all the details now, but she talked about the amount of space being heated when comparing one to the other.

Back to coffee, with my gas stove, I can't heat leftover perked coffee or heat water for instant as fast as I can in the microwave.

Get more than one small thermos if you want hot coffee throughout the day. As you remove coffee from thermos, its replaced with air, thus remaining coffee in thermos loses temp much faster. So a full thermos may stay hot 8 hour or more, but a half full thermos only hour or so.

microwaves use next to no energy..for reheating coffee..where your stove will use a lot..the thermos is the best idea..but if you aren't into thermos or carafes..then use the microwave..

or use a coffee pot that keeps it warm for an hour or so and then shuts off..if you are drinking only during the morning.

once that coffee pot warmer is heated up keeping it warm probably isn't that much electricity either..

if you have a wood stove..you could sit it near the heat to keep it hot too.

i don't drink the stuff so i'm not a good person to ask honestly

Really good coffee is still good when it is cold. But, not so good lukewarm.
