Eden Pure space heaters

I am thinking of getting one of these heaters. Has anyone here used them and are they as good as the makers state? My power bill is near $300.00 a month during our short Florida winter.. Eden Pure claims to operate on about a dollar a day. Feed back please.

A very good friend had\has one and enjoyed how it heated an added on room on their true log home.

And then came the bill . . . . . . . . . the (told to me ) reaction was "Holy S@@t"

Their bill almost doubled..........................

Yes I admit this is Michigan and not FL. . . . . . .

Your elec. bill will jump proportionally with your usage of this good working energy HOG.

there ain't no free lunch.........

As far as I can tell, its a 1500 watt electric heater. Yes, it can cost only $1/day. But, at $.10/kw hour, that means its on for less than 7hrs a day. At $.12/kw hr, its only 5 1/2hrs per day.

If you think this is going to provide a lot of heat, all day long for that $1/day, then you're going to be in for a big shock.

The only way to decrease your power bill with something like this is to significantly lower your houses temperature setting, and only heat the area you are in. You have to calculate the savings vs. the additional electric bill cost of the eden pure.

A cheap electric heater will give you the same results.

They now offer combination heat and a/c window or wall units which can work nice for rooms.

I was thinking about buying one, so I subscribed to Consumer Report's. Glad I did.
They weren't to happy, or impressed with the Eden Pure.
Save your money.

We've had one two years. To get any good from it it had to run full time. Our bill went up about $95 a month. It will only heat one room. I'd be glad to find it a new home. A $30 heater will do the same thing.
What are you heating with now?? It sounds like you need to alter your system. We heat a 9 room house in northern Indiana with fuel oil for about that much.

Many thaks. I had a feeling that all was not as they claimed. There is a video of Bob Velia from this old house bragging up the heater. I will save my bucks and alter my existing system.

My brother bought one a few weeks ago, he has not seen his first bill yet.

I do think it will save him some money, he has an electric furnace and his bill is though the roof. They are just using it to heat the living room and kitchen area, where they stay 90% of the time. Their furnace ran almost full time tring to keep the entire house comfortable.

Would a standard heater have done the same for them, I don't know they have tried several different types in the past and where not happy.

He loves it right now, we will see after the first bill...

Just remember, a 1500w space heater puts out the identical amount of heat as a blow dryer for your hair.

They are a 1500W space heater. No different heat output than a $40 ceramic heater from wal-mart. In most areas of the country, electric is the most expensive heating fuel. You might save money if you are using this to heat one room, versus heating the whole house. But it's not some magic heater that is gonna heat your whole house for $1/day.

If you want electric room heating, get one of the oil filled radiator style ones, or install some electric baseboards.

I had one of these a few years back , not eden pure but similar , there are the best space heaters out there but also cost 6-10 times the cost of a normal one , ceramic. The problem is they shell out after two years of usage and you cannot buy the infrared tubes they use. Youre pretty much screwed at that point. Better to buy off the shelf space heaters and toss them out after a year.

My neighbor down the road owns three, no, four, chain hardware stores. He's always pushing something or other. One year it was the talking bass, one year it was the massage office chair with the control like a TV remote, last year it was the country singing deer head, this year it is the Eden Pure. He even took a bunch to the County Fair in the hottest week of July and set up a booth to sell them to, mostly Hispanic families on their night out.....

I think I'll wait till sidewalk days.......

We bought an EdenPure last winter for our large family room, where dh and I spend most of our time. I haven't seen a significant increase in our electric bill, but I think that's because the cost to run the EdenPure is offset by the savings achieved by lowering the thermostat to the whole house. The real reason we chose this one over other (cheaper) types of heaters is that it is cool to the touch, so it's safe around animals and kids, on the carpet, near bedding, etc.

eden pure

I have some of the eden pure heaters I had bought at auctions and looked new for under 100 dollars , they work ok but as others have said 1500 watts will make your bill go up and as far as savings over regular heat ,I feel there really isnt any savings for us since we keep a constant temp in the winter. I mainly use ours in a basement were its is a little cooler than upstairs,I just turn it on and let it run about 20 minutes before working down stairs but the electric bill does go up about 30 dollars a month and for what usage it gets it seems high for the limited usage, I wouldnt want to depend on it for my main heat since it would cost a fortune running all month, you might have a 300 dollars electric bill if you run it daily for a month in a cool area, I would use it sparingly until you see your bill, and my ceramic space heater works just as well I feel and are only about 50.00 dollars

I will say that the Eden Pures were a lifesaver last winter for 3 days when we redid our ductwork (old had cat pee and poo in it, so we had to get it done ASAP instead of waiting for spring). We used my parents' 2, plus our wood burning stove. That combo was so good that we didn't even use the 2nd one! I don't know how it affected our bill, though, because it was only on for a couple of days. My parents use it for their sun room and their basement (if there's no fire in the woodburner). They don't use theirs full time, either.

My sister, OTOH, absolutely hated hers and said her electric bill went way high. She was a single mom on a fixed income, and she couldn't afford it. She sold it to my bro/sil, and they loved it. So, I've had mixed reviews from my family.

We don't have one. When we were at the local hardware store last year looking at them, the owner of the store (who we know personally) told us not to waste our money, that they weren't any good. He said it was basically no different than other space heaters.

I have corn burner for the majority of the house and oil filled heaters for those cold spaces like the bathroom...that works well for me.

The eden pure we had raised the electric bill and I did not feel it heated as well as an oil filled heater.

I have an Electralog fake fireplace. Makes a nice ambiance in the living room. I enjoy sitting near it. It puts out quite a bit of heat and lets me leave the big furnace off a little longer. I also invested in an electric blanket, with which allows me to turn off ALL forms of heating and stay warm under that!

Using a blow dryer for a space heater would be about the only use I'd have for one.

The best thing to happen to me in order to lower my heating bill was menopause! I used to be cold with the thermometer set at 72º. Now, I'm quite happey with it set at 64º!

The Eden Pure is a commercial device that robs Peter (Peter, the oil man) in order to pay Paul (Paul, the electric meter reader)!
