Where to get moccosins? (spelling wrong)

Where is a place to get decently priced moccosins or to get the kit to make your own. I do want a decent quality, so I don't want the cheapest quality thing online. Anyone have experience with this?

Google Minnetonka moccasins, we've worn them and gotten good service.

Kill a deer and make your own pair from the hide after you home tan it.

Get the BUCKSKINNER's book. Patterns and tools will be shown. Also how to tan the hide if you want to go that way.

Don't know where you are located, but there is a place in downtown Branson Missouri that builds and sells moccasins on site. I believe the name is "Hillbilly Moccasins". I spoke to the owner many years ago and he built me a pair with Boar Hide on the bottoms. He said I could wear them everyday if I wanted and if they wore thru in less than 5 years he'd give me another pair...they didn't. I still have them and they are over 10 years old. They might sell you a pair over the phone if you look them up.

When I was visiting with relatives in Seaside, OR they took me to a recreation of the overwintering camp for the L&C Expedition. Quite interesting. It was mentioned they spent a lot of the winter boiling down salt water to salt and making mocs out of elk hides. Apparently a pair wouldn't last long.

Tandy Leather

They use to have all sorts of Kits, for a couple 'r three various styles of Moccasins, in a couple price ranges.
I guess they are still around........
My kids always made their own. They use to have a kit for the tall calf-high moccasin boots too.

Thanks for all of the replies. Yes, I had a pair of the Minitonka brand. I could not remember the name. I got mine from Cherokee, NC over 25 years ago. I think they lasted about 10 years as well. I will look up info on all of your replies. Blessings to all, firegirl

Apache made ones?? Are you talking about an Apache Style?? With the fringe drag on the heel?

I've made many pair of moccs. I was going to say use only buffalo or a thick shoulder of a beef for the soles, but someone mentioned using Board hide for the sole and that would be good too.

The sole should be rawhide and the uppers should be brain tanned. They'll last you for a very long time
