Are there any American made boots?
Dh has bought 2 different pair of boots from wallmart at 2 different times. Of course they were both made in china & didn't even make it for a year before coming apart at the sole, cracking across the bridge of the foot, etc. These were not reall inexspensive boots but I guess for men's boot's they were.
We were at Gander mountain, Dick's sporting goods & Dunhams all yesterday looking for a good boot that's American made. Couldn't find any no matter what the price!
Are there any boots made riht here in our Country? It's a sad shame we have to get our products from every where but right here!

I'm wearing a pair from the Thurogood Boot Co. that are made in America. They were hard to track down, too. About $150 and they look to be repairable. Good boots.

I believe that most, if not all, Redwing boots are made in the USA.
You won't find Redwings at Wal-Mart or at the mall. You'll have to buy them at a shoe/boot shop.

My husband bought Red Wings for several years, but they never lasted well. He now wears boots he bought at Bass Pro and they have done very well, outlasting the Red Wings (now double the life), and no signs of breaking down.
I don't know the make, the two sets he has are from different companies, I am sure. I think most important is to buy from a store that has good quality control in their product line...

I led backcountry trail crews in Alaska for 6 years and had a pair of Red Wings the entire time. They were almost $250 new and I had a $25 spruce up at a cobbler shop each fall but they last! Also had crew members who invested over $400 in a pair of Whites, American made and indestructible!!

Justin, Chippewa, and Cherokee boots are still made in the USA. I had pretty good luck with Chippewa boots but I'm buying riding boots not work boots.

redwings
Redwings (most) are still made in th USA. I have one pair that is over 3 years old. I work construction and am on my feet 8 to 12 hours a day. If you want to make them last, get 2 pairs. Wear a different pair each day. Keep them clean and apply a good waterproofer and conditioner.

I'm not worried about the price, but he really just wants a good boot that he can wear to work around here &/or for hunting boots.
I have seen Red wing shoe store's, I'll have to try & find one close enough to us & I will also look up the other brands mentioned here to see where they are sold or are they for online purchases only?
It would be nice to buy something American made & try to support our country.

Redwings are the best boot I ever bought. I have been wearing them for 15 years and they wear very well and can be resoled very reasonable.

Haven't had any luck with Redwings or Wolverine since they changed the soles on their boots. Bought a pair of Carolina boots from shoeline.com this spring that are standing up well. Some are American made some aren't, excellent selection of sizes and widths, also. The pair I bought was American made for under 100.00 with a discount coupon.

Katie,
I don't know where they're manufactured, but I've bought "Work America" brand boots from the B.A. Mason shoe company in Chippewa Falls, WI for many years. I abuse them terribly on my farm every day. They cost around $100.00. They last 2 - 3 years. They're guaranteed that the soles will not wear out before the tops do. I don't even look anyplace else or consider any other brands.
Good luck,
Tom in TN

Check with your local shoe repair cobbler.
I buy all of my footwear from the shoe repair shop that does my build ups and ankle brace installations. Redwing is the only line they carry other than the custom made western boots the younger cobbler crafts. I am happy to pay the 100 to $200 for a pair of redwings or the $500 to $800 for a custom pair of boots because they are good for a lifetime of heels and half soles.

Danner Acadia
I've spent from $180 to $230 a pair. After I walk off the Vibrim soles, I get them re-soled. Well built, good for my feet, last a long time. Made in USA. Check eBay.

Most Justin workboots are not made in the US anymore. DH has bought 2 pairs in the past year and the leather smelled so bad he could hardly stand to wear them when they were new. It is something they are doing different to cure the leather. He is now looking for a new brand.

Used to be...Just bought DH a pair of Justins @ TSC about a month ago. Paid $140 for them. Yesterday, he was pulling them off and noticed the "Made in China" stamp inside. That was the first thing he said. LOL. He thought Justin was American made, as well.

Danner's are probably the best boot I have ever put on my feet and that is from a 20 year marine. I bought my first pair of Acadias in 93 for 110 bucks and traveled around the world and stomped and tromped uncountless miles through jungle and desert. Resoled them 3 times and still have them 16 years later. Like an old friend I just can't say goodbye.

I began wearing Bates shoes with my uniform when I was a Customs Inspector. I would wear them every day for 8-16 hours for at least 2-3 years, until I could no longer get a good spit shine on them. The only reason I could stand that long was because the shoes were so well made!
Hubby still wears Bates boots, for 2-3 years until he can no longer get a good spit shine on them, and then he gets a new pair and wears his old ones at the ranch a few more years until they finally die. They supply shoes and boots for military and for law enforcement. Excellent quality, and extremely comfortable!
He whacked himself inthe foot with his chainsaw (don't ask). He still has two whole feet and ten toesies because the steel toes in his boots protected him.
