Might Get Hogs Could This Be A Problem?
Ok I've had Hogs on this place before but I didn't have a neighbor across the Fence that I don't get along with.
I'm wanting to get 3 Hogs to raise up and Butcher.Going to put them on a very Large Lot where they have plenty of room and shouldn't smell.
The Lot will be about a hundred yards from this neighbor. What do you think?

Rocky cocidering your usual "Do what I Want attitude" ,I think you are headed for trouble! Can you limit them to the far side of the property, even if it means a smaller enclosure? Also maybe just do one at a time. Are there any in town rules you will be breaking, don't give them any ammuniotion if you can help it! Good luck. I'll be over when the hams are ready!

We annually raise our 3 or 4 hogs about the same distance from our closest neighbors. It probably helps that they are uphill and in the trees; they wouldn't know they were there if not for the occasional squeal or grunt. Ours don't smell either on their 100x50 foot pen and self feeders keep the noise levels down considerable. As long as it's secure you should be allright.

Go for it.
A hundred yards is plenty. Ours were 50 yards form the house and we never smelled them.
When you get them butchered, take your neighbor a package of home raised bacon and maybe some chops and sausage.
He won't mind the hogs then.

That is a little too close for a hog farm but for family pork-
I don't even see any need for a question. Its none of their business. You live in the country. People in the country have livestock. Go for it.

What TurnerHill said......with some other words of "advice" also added.
As I'm sure you know, from reading other threads on here, there have been some who have advocated
putting hogs up against a neighbors fence line to "get back" at said neighbor. Not saying that this could
possibly be true in this case, but if the neighbor has a "beef" with you; for whatever reason,
then putting hogs ANYPLACE on your property is sending him a "message".....
whether that is your intent or not. And granted, you probably have the right to raise them,
but I think your question centered around: Is it right to do so? Only you can answer that one.

100 yards upwind or downwind?
If downwind raise an extra one and if they kick up a fuss you don't want to deal with, tell them they can have one for cost. No more extra work for you, really, and it would go towards better relations with them.
If they are 100 yards upwind, though, I wouldn't worry about it.

On the plus side, they will provide Tina with a convenient way to dispose of the body.

Well I could put them where my Old Garden was.Thing is it only has 2X4 inch Welded Wire around it.I'm not sure this is strong enough.
I had a problem like this when I lived in town.Neighbor said my Chickens stunk.Told the Cops I was violent so they cuffed me while they talked to me about my Chickes. I killed most of them cleaned up best I could. The neighbor was still complaining but Law told him there was nothing they could do because I had already did all I could
He is going to have a fit when I burn my woods.

Since it isn't me...I say do it. Can you raise them early in the season so when it gets hot 9and stinky) they will be gone?

Raise what you want. Your land......your choice. People that don't want to be around animals being raised need to move where it is not allowed IMO. If your animals present no threat or damage to another persons property then why not.
Now if you have poor animal husbandry and a neighbor gives you some friend advice on how to keep your animals healthier and less stinky.........well then that is just being neighborly

I'm pretty sure there are no laws or covenants covering hogs in the county and you not in the city. Since you really don't care what your jerk neighbor thinks, I'd do just as I want. He is far enough away to either take offense or ignore it...entirely up to him. Keep them secure (No, 2x4 welded will not work) and in a large enough area to not stink. Then if there is a problem it is his.
And goats do not stink...Well the does anyway.

2x4 welded will work if you add a single strand of electric around the inside about a foot off the ground.
I say GET the pigs...of course I have raise feeder pigs numerous time 50 feet UP hill from the neighbors back door...NOT MY PROBLEM that the house was built illegally too close to the property line...heck I sold the first owner another 15 feet so they would have a 35 foot back yard. They are lucky we have decided to provide a 50 foot wildlife buffer at our expense. So there is a double fence with a fifty foot wide by 200 foot long area of high brush cranberry bushes with a few assorted young trees.
If you buy a house next to a farm, then you should expect cows, pigs, goats or whatever to come up to the property line fence....since when does a farm need to impose a buffer? That's a lost of income.

We use 2x4 and a hot strand, no problemo. Same thing I use around the garden.
Can't advise on the neighbor Rock. Seems that ya'll live in the Twilight Zone part of Missouri and normal rules don't hold. Seems like if ya'll have raised hogs you know what you're a lookin at and have enough sense to know if it is too close or not. If your neighbor is just trying to be a knucklehead go on about your business.
Can you explain about the woods burning thing again? I can't wrap my head around that one.

Does your state have a "Right to Farm" law? If there is that will be your answer. Usually if you adhere to best practices there isn't a thing the neighbor would be able to do. Otherwise you may well have problems.

I don't understand why you are talking of getting hogs, goats, etc when you have been posting about selling your place, moving, etc?
