Newspaper log rollers?

Does anyone have any experience with these machines? How well does the newspaper log burn? I've thought about getting one of these as we do a couple of paper routes and usually have about 600 newspapers extra each week. I have been dropping them off at the recycle center but if they would burn good I might buy a roller and have the kids roll some logs.

Please give me the good, bad, and the ugly on this if you know anything about them.

Thanks, Happy

This was brought up not to long ago and most if not all said it was more work than it was worth with kind of lame results as for burning,if you do a search it should bring up that thread.

Yes, just do a search on the keywords of newspaper roller. About a half dozen appliable threads.

D-I-Y method. Use an outdoor table and slightly (barely) dampen the newspaper sections. Just roll into a tight bundle 4-6" thick. Stand upright under shelter to dry for a long time. Then place on top of an already hot fire. Newspaper logs will burn a layer at a time.

Alternate: Sprinkle on a layer of sawdust as you roll.

Thanks, I found what I needed to know on the old threads. So I guess the papers will continue to go to the recycle center!

How are you set for storage space? With 600 extra papers a week, it might be worthwhile to save them and sell them by the ton, just like the recycling center does.

My father made newspaper logs by dipping them in water, rolling them tight and binding with a couple heavy rubber bands to dry. As they dried adequately, he would remove the rubber bands for reuse in rolling and drying more.
