Question Wii - What do you like?

I just got the Wii and the Wii Fit Plus system. I wanted to do the yoga and other fitness stuff since it's had some good reviews and isn't boring like the gym gets every day. Plus it isn't so easy always to get to the gym in the winter.

But it looks like there are just oodles of games out there too.

Anyone else have one? What do you like or recommend? Anyone doing the fitness portion?

(Sorry if this is more GC stuff, but GC is a bit more serious and many don't go there so I posted it here.)

EA Active is one I do for fitness....it is good for the lower body work out. Wii Resort Sports for just plain fun, there is flying a plane, archery, sword, canoeing, and biking. The biggest problem I had with the original Wii fit is having to go back through the menu for each exercise.

I got a Wii and the Wii Fit for my birthday. I love it! I only have the Fit and Sports games so can't really recommend any others.

Good Wii Game

I hate to start you on the road to addiction, but you have to check out Harvest Moon, Tree of Tranquility. My 16 year old son and I both enjoy it. In fact, in most cases we argue over whose turn it is to play.
It is a game based on two basic concepts you can do one or both. One is to farm your land including seasonal plants and different types of animals. The other concept is to make another town member fall for you and raise a family. You can play as either a male or female. You can choose your plot in the hills on the beach or in the mountains. You can even buy more land (seeing a trend here?)
Kind of like Sims for the HT types.
Don't say I did not warn you if you get it. It is way too much fun to put down.

MarioKart is a great game that the family can play together.

We have a good game for the Fit board, it is a snowboarding game, but I can't remember the exact name.

We use Wii fit, I personally like the Yoga.

The rest of my family are addicted to Mario Cart. I'm no good at driving games.

Don't like anything about it... makes kids get "ugly" attitudes.

DS and DH like the Lego games. Indiana Jones and Star Wars are great hits around here.
I liked Wall-E.
We rent them for nearly nothing and there is a used game place in town where we could buy them if we had the money for nearly nothing.

Our children love to be outside in all weather, but at least something like this would give them a fun game to play when they are cooped up inside.

We got the Wii for the family as a joint present last Christmas. We are not big fans of video games, but it has been great. We do not play it all the time, but it is really fun to pull out on a rainy day, or for a little bit on weekend nights. We love lots of the sports games like bowling, pingpong, tennis and boxing.

We are big fans of Mario Kart-that is the most played game in the house. We also have Rock Band (a gift) and we really have a lot of fun with that. It would be better if we could actually play music together, but none of us can play anything real LOL. I think that you can get lots of different music if you don't like the songs, but we don't play enough to be tired of what it comes with.

We plan to get Wii fit for Christmas this year. Don't know if you have a BJsin your area but they had a good package price on the Wii and that is where we will get the fit.

Like most things you need to keep balance. I'm not sure I could if I got that Harvest Moon game - LOL.

Not all Wii games are fitness ones...and they have some that are just as junky as others. I know one family that loves the Wii since they can use it to motivate the kids...once this is done you can have 20min. Wii time. I can see where you might have trouble with competative kids depending on game choices.

I also liked the Lego Indiana Jones and the Excite Truck. Tried some of the fishing ones, not great but they do pass time in the winter. I enjoyed Rayman Raving Rabbids - weird but fun at the same time.

My son got the Wii last year. They do the Mario races most of the time. Definitely not a bad game. But I have seen my 7 yr. old grandson turn rude instantly when he has to quit playing. And this is only after about 15 min.

The same thing happened when my son was about 10 (18 years ago) He bought himself a nintendo and started acting the same. I use to tell him to come and eat and his reply was" wait until I die first" (this was also mario bros.) Well his character died alright. I unplugged the thing and it eventually got sold.

I just think it is a waste of time... (My opinion)

If you're specifically looking for fitness, there's a new one coming out in late November called Your Shape. http://yourshapewii.com/category/videos/
I've preordered from Amazon (it was $53 when I preordered, but it's $66 now) so can't give you a personal testimony, but it sounds pretty good.

We are looking to get one, too. I have always been the one that said NO GAME SYSTEMS in the house....but the physical aspect of Wii has won me over. Kids and DH (my gamer) have been told that no "sit on your butt and wiggle your finger" games will be purchased or played on it, even if they get one as a present form someone else. They have to be "get up, move, and get your wiggles out" games. So far we are looking at Wii Fit, Bowling, and the Winter Olympics one that is coming out soon. They played Mario Cart at their cousins house, so that may make it to ours as well. It's not as much "get up and move" as I would like, but it's not "sit and wiggle you finger", either.

Once the kids (10 &7) have finished paying us back for damage they did to the house (they get $4 and hour and have to each come up with $100) then they can start earning money for the Wii. Due to some "disrespect of equipment" issues DH and I decided they have to come up with half of the money for the system, then we will pay for the other half and the games. I hope we can get it around Christmas time...the weather keeps the kids inside too much and they need the extra energy release....we can only go swimming so much!

I am having a hard time too wondering which system to get and which game. I dont want to spend a fortune, I will be buying from Amazon.
Do they come with a sport package Christy?

Rose
Yes, that is the version I got. It is just called Wii Sports. It comes with a combined sports game that appears to have tennis, bowling, golf and some others.

I also got the Wii Fit Plus, which is the balance board and the plus version of the home trainer with balance games, yoga, calisthenics, cardio of all kinds, strength and mine has some pilates.

In total it was 199 for the wii and 99 for the fit plus.
