I assume since the tops/lids aren't shown that they have none. are you able to make some for them? If they're of good size and hold liquid fine, they would make great rain barrels. Cut them length ways and attach some sort of legs for flower beds, livestock troughs, or feeders. Cut in half to make small water ponds/fountains, patio planters. Line with heavy food grade plastic and they can store livestock feed /grain, dog food, or even bulk foods for your family (will need tight fitting lids). There's a ton of things to do with good barrels.

Make stools out of them and put checker boards on top of some of them and play checkers like at one time in a country store. You can cut the front half from the top down about 1/2 way if big enough and put a seat in one and have a back on them. If small make a child stool and table from them and sell at flea market. Make good storage, if big enough. If big enough could use for a thump keg.

Put glass tops on them and use them for tables that you would have a stool to sit at. They are too light to last long for flowers.

I have one in my livingroom. It is crammed full of blankets and I have a glass top that covers it. A lot of my houseplants sit on top of it.

I have been looking for one that I am going to use for a faucet cover. I have a 3/4" pvc line coming out of the ground (which is about 3' tall) where the chicken coop will go with a garden faucet on top. I want to place the barrel over the pvc pipe hiding it, and have the faucet tapped into (outside)the barrel.
I have the pic in my head and think it would look good....might try that....just flip the open end to cover the pipe.

I'd buy them and put into storage until the ideal use for them comes along, if they are at a good price. I would check out what the original use for them was, however. Depending on what they originally contained, would help me decide what to do with them later.
Oh, remember that in older times flour was stored in wooden barrels. No plastic liners either. Wood has natural preservatives and disinfectants in it. (Google safety of wooden cutting boards compared to plastic for more info.) If those barrels are made from hardwood and haven't been contaminated with something harmful, I wouldn't hesitate to store foodstuff in them. Better than plastic, IMHO.
You're lucky.... never see anything like that around here, unless it's been cut in half for flower planters or garden water features. (sigh)

We have one in our living room. We cut about 8-10 inches off the top and it's now our wood box.

Depending upon how many potatoes you will plant; you could use them to grow potatoes.

I have grown some in plastic trashcans and this prevented me from having to dig them up and losing the spuds to the moles. I also don’t miss any at the end of the season.

Well with your new thin self looks like you could fit inside of one of these barrels pretty easy. Niagara Falls isn't too far from you. Your just a splash away from making history. Don't forget to wear ear protection.

You could use them to store a number of things in. If the price is right, I'd buy them and put them up for safe keeping if I didn't have a specific use at the time. They are usually not sold on every street corner and are kind of becoming a thing of the past in my area.

I've made good-looking dog beds out of them - make a cradle to hold one, so it doesn't roll, and it can be on your porch or whatever. I find that the dogs love the rounded/nest shape to them. An old blanket or some hay for padding and they lie in them by choice.

Rent them out to people who want to drive up to Niagra Falls and float over the falls. Should make a good video. Be sure to get a good security deposit and do not take any checks.

Dig them into the ground, line them, cover them with straw and use them as a small root cellar storage system for the winter.

I'm thinking of layering apples/pears in the them with lots of straw between the layers for winter storage (in the basement).
