The bandsaw works great for smaller animals such as deer, sheep, and hogs. But when I tried it on a cow elk, it was just a little too small to do a good job. The grinder broke very quickly on mine as it kept slipping off and when I tried to tighten it down real good the housing broke since it was made of pot metal. I bought a commercial meat grinder, Torrey M12, and it would grind circles around the grinder on the bandsaw.
If you got the money I think you would be better off getting a better made bandsaw. If not, then Northern Tool would be better then nothing at all. Always keep an extra band blade on hand. When the saw blade starts slipping off the pulley's quite often, it's a sign that the blade is getting too dull and needs changed out. I've probably cut up close to 300 deer with my saw I ordered from Northern tool and it still works fine.
