My wildest dreams just came true!
My dad, who is amazing at building, repairing, planning, and fixing things was talking to me today about going into part time retirement and becoming a full time farmer! EEEEEEEEEP! [strongbad
He seems interested in small-time organic farming for profit. I think he 'got the bug' when he visited a co-worker's 10 acre farm with hydroponic strawberry plant system, apple/peach/cherry orchard complete with cider making etc. I'm the household pro on livestock care etc... Now that we might become a 'team', it's almost scary to think about the possibilities! I think the strawberries impressed him the most. The guy had 5 groups of 3 plants per tier, with about 100' rows... He said he got 5lbs of berries per plant, which means TONS of strawberries. Best of all, he sold most if not all at farmer's markets or off of the farm.
