5 inches of Global Warming

A friend called from Trinidad, Co and told me that 5 inches of Global Warming has fallen there today. Expected to be gone by the weekend, but it is 3 weeks earlier this year than last.

Sure was weird to see snow fly so early! We didn't get any that "stuck" where we are, but friends in the mountains got 4 inches.

We just had thunder storm move through and it it dropped almost a inch of rain. We were over the yearly average of rainfall by the first of September and it looks like we will have rain for the next week or so. I almost got the yard mowed and it will be time to do it again if we have any dry time.

We're in prolonged drought. Our lakes and wetlands are drying up. Much of our summer was very cold. We're 15-20 degrees above normal now with no end in sight. Our trees should be in full color by now and have just started. This is disrupting the processes of our ecosystem.

That's why climate change is more accurate. Some places are colder, some are warmer, some are wetter, and some are drier but the overall global temperature is warmer as data is showing.

I have to admit it...I saw the videos of the snow flying, the tall pine trees with snow on their boughs...and I got all mushy inside and wistful and thinking how lovely it was..like I do EVERY year with the first snowfalls in the mountains and when it reaches here.

Of course by December I'm sick of snow already..but it sure is pretty. I bet it's even prettier when you're sitting on the beach, sipping a marguarita waiting for your beachside dinner to be ready

Yup, we got around 3-5 inches depending on which side of Trinidad.

More moisture due in tonight. Snow? Rain?

Who cares--it sure settled our dust!

Thank you. I get really tired of people pretending that there is no climate change situation. Call it whatever you want, but you can't ignore the fact that the climate is changing at a much more rapid rate than it occurs naturally.

The title for this thread comes off as very troll-like. Yes, early snow is interesting news, but using a title designed to provoke a response is uncalled for. The reply about the drought in MN is coupled by the current flooding in the southeast:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090922/...n_southeast_46

And don't forget that this region suffered record drought last year. So, I'd just like all the experts who absolutely know for 100% certain that we are not adding to this problem to explain these events.

And don't forget that nobody ever said that global warming was equal all around the globe. Some areas will get drier, and others will get wetter. Deserts will expand as oceans rise. How much of this is manmade and how much is nature is for the scientists to determine. I know that weather seemed more severe when I was a kid, and we have been spoiled by fairly stable weather patterns for about 20 years now (at least here in the northeast). Things seem to be getting a little wilder now. The storms just seem a little worse than in recent years.
