Book-Five Acres and Independence

It appears that a new edition of Five Acres and Independence by Kains was released this year. Haven't a clue if a new edition would be worth taking a look at but thought some of you might like to know.

Thanks! It's been years since I've read it. I'll have to look for it next trip to the library.

I don't think it could be improved upon; perhaps it's just being re-issued for the new generation? ldc

I think you are right, sort of dated but still relevant.

If I remember correctly the book was published in the first couple of years in Mother earth News, like a chapter each issue.

Looking at my copy right now. Copyright 1973. Noted that it was originally published in 1935. Revised edition 1940.

Hope they didn't make any major changes to it, other than bringing it current for costs of doing things. There's a TON of good information in that book that isn't included in those books featuring "modern" equipment/methods of doing things.

There have actually been several different editions from what I can gather at Amazon. This is just the latest and not so terribly long since the previous one. Shows there is still a need for such books.
