.............I've had state farm trk ins. for 20+ years , so I thought I seek a quote from geico . Was curious if anyone on here has switched companies and are you happy with your decision ?
.............I've gotten Geico quotes in the past and they saved me money but did so by reducing my coverage in catagories ! thanks , fordy

Be very, very careful of Geico.

Specifically, insist on a written binder, and read it carefully. You will find that there coverage doesn't actually start until they have received their first payment (thus making the binder not really a binder at all) and if you get in an accident in the meantime, you're out of luck.

I bid out my auto insurance about every 2-3 years, and in the past, it has saved me a lot of money. However, I just went through the price shopping exercise this past Spring, and Progressive, my current insurer won out over Allstate, USAA, and the others. My homeowners is with State Farm, and it is too expensive in my opinion. But the hassle of convincing another agent that the wood stove is a good thing is just not worth it.

Progressive Insurance always beat the others until this last year and now I have Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance. Was about $300 savings on auto, business, business liability and personal. We also check around every 3-4 years.

Farm Bureau bests all the others in the area I live in. You do not have to farm to qualify. State Farm IMO is a reputable insurance company. I had one of their customers to hit me and SF was very fair with the settlement.

I have homeowners and auto with State Farm. I have gotten quotes from Geico in the past and State Farm came in lower.

I switched from State Farm to Geico years ago. Geico was WAY cheaper. I've had several problems since then - hit and run, hail storm, minor accident. Geico has been just great about taking care of it.

I admit I haven't looked around for a cheaper one in about 5 years. I ought to do that!

Geico is known to lowball to get your buisiness then quickly raise prices assuming you are too lazy to go to all trouble of shopping around again. Also if you have an accident, your next Geico premium can go through the barn roof as they try to get rid of you.

It can vary which is absolute rock bottom price at particular time, but I've found Farm Bureau to usually be in ballpark. They were also decent to get quote from. When I got divorce 15 years ago, Progressive really jacked up my rates even though my ex was one with the accidents and tickets. Guess they thought my 1960 Chevy 6cyl farm pickup that I was driving at time suddenly became a hotrod and babe magnet..... Farm Bureau was half what I had been paying Progressive BEFORE the divorce and they cheerfully gave me a quote without making it like pulling teeth as several other companies did.

I have been with Geico for 15 years, I will never go anywhere else...I did get quotes from farm bureau and state farm at one time and Geico matched the price and the coverage...

I had an accident last winter, hit a tree in my own yard, they were on the ball with a rental car and getting my caddy fixed, even in a very rural area..

I also had an accident about 10 years ago and I was not charged anything extra, Geico paid out 10,000.00 as a courtesy.

Hey.

I switched from State Farm to Progressive two years ago for a $600 annual savings. I got tired of State Farm juicing me every year with rate increases and we had no accidents. I also got nearly twice the coverage from Progressive to boot.

I had Geico on my 4 X 4 and Honda CRV. They would not insure my doublewide.

Through Costco, I now have Ameriprise. They have saved me half (not exagerating) of what Geico cost me. And the service is great!

See what you can save by being able to compete for insurance that crosses state lines? Don't you wish that you could do the same with health insurance? So simple.

Had Geico for 15 years and the first time I had an accident (not my fault), they were horrible. Took 30 days to inspect my truck and the rental allowance was less than the cheapest (2 door speck) rental I could find for 6 weeks. Truck took another 6 to be fixed. The rest was out of pocket.

Once I got the truck back they dropped me.

I've had state farm ever since and have my homes insured thru them as well. Had only one claim since (this time it was my fault) and they were great and didn't even raise my premium.

I switched from Progressive to State Farm years ago. My rate seemed to always go up with Progressive. Since I've been with State Farm my rates have steadily fallen over the years. I wouldn't even think of switching over to another insurance agency.

I switched from Geico to State Farm. I was happy with the premiums with Geico, but never had a claim and I don't think you can really know how good they are until you do. When we had to add a teenage driver our premiums with Geico more than doubled and that was with spotless driving records. For us, State Farm is much cheaper with a teen driver.

Our homeowner's ins. is with Farm Bureau they were much cheaper than State Farm for that. I think it really depends on where you live. The 10 years we lived in IL we had Country Companies, but couldn't afford them when we moved.

Our cars and home are all insured with State Farm and we would never consider changing. We've never had a single problem with a claim in all the years we've used them (both of us were State Farm customers when we met).

I've had State Farm for 17 years; my quote from Geico was double. Farm Bureau quoted me slightly less than State Farm, but after 17 yrs, I don't want to jinx a good thing.ldc

We had Geico for years, but once we added my son, rates went up $400/month. We switched to USAA - then my teenager had an accident. Sigh - I'm sure the rates will go up. He swerved to avoid an animal, but wrecked the car.

I used to be a SF fan. Then I saw the h e double ll they put a neighbor through on a hurricane claim, and did some comparative pricing. Travelers has the lowest auto rates around here. I was able to get comp for less than the cost of a barebones with another company.
