WWOOFing. Anyone?

I've a friend that's a host for WWOOFing - World Wide Organic Opportunities on Farms. Anyone else participate in this? I think this is fascinating. I can't participate as a host or as a volunteer helper, but it's way cool.

ALL over the world. Got started in the UK in 1971 according to the webbie. My friend and her husband are here in Indiana. Neat. Very neat. A way to grow and share with people WILLING to learn! Anyone else participate/volunteer with this?

I've been trying to find the right time to volunteer for a couple of years now. This season would be ideal, maybe I can find someone in Cali that has room for me and the dog that works year-round. Thought about trying to make it to Hawaii but the quarantine on the dog would be too much, I think.

I've had quite a few woofers come and help out on our farm. Some have been great, the others...well.......
its a neat opportunity for both the travelers and growers,

We've been seriously considering this. We are still in the build up stages of a lot of things, but that is still a good learning experience for people. Right now, we just need to make sure we have the right accommodations. I'm thinking next spring we will start!

I have been a WWOOF host for many years. Have found that most workers have been great, a few not so good, and one I had to ask to leave.
Great experience for both hosts and workers alike, and has resulted in many friendships.

I have heard from volunteers that have had great hosts and awful hosts. Like anything else it all depends on the people involved.

I signed up for my first WWOOF experience in England last month, but I fell and broke my wrist, so I had to cancel. I'd like to try volunteering sometime. I just hope it's not all geared to young folks. My 50+ year old back isn't as strong as it used to be.

Age should not be a factor, I had one lady stay who was a child in the siege of Stalingrad. Now she really did eat everything on her plate!

My friends are WWOOF hosts.

They are 54 and have been at their new place a year or so. Great ideas, great plans, great progress so far. I'm thinking they are really heading right...

They were already organic farmers LONG BEFORE they got their bigger place. Pretty neat folks.

I don't know if they are only getting older folks or younger folks, but I think they are enjoying the experience very much.
