Going to Sturbridge Mass

Suggest things for me to do . We will be doing an overnight trip to deliver a buck and want to take advantage of having no children with us .

We will go to Sturbridge village of course but what else?

Thanks, Patty

Yankee Candle Co! They usually have a section where you can get overruns, closeouts, etc.

Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, MA is 88 miles away.

Going to Sturbridge Mass - Homesteading Questions

They have regular daily tours and special events. I've been to Sturbridge while visiting my DB, but alas, I have never made it out to Hancock Shaker Village.

No kids, huh? A newspaper reporter went out to interview a couple with 23 children. He asked, "How did you get so many children?" "Well," the husband replied, "We live right by the railroad tracks, and every morning I ask the wife, 'Do you wanna get up, or what?'. Just then the train comes by, and she says, 'What?'"..........................

since you're taking 90, you should get off in lee, and spend a day in the berkshires. more cultural events and activities than you can imagine. hancock shaker village is nice. they also just re-opened the road up to mt. greylock, which is a nice spot for a hike, a picnic, or just a nap.

Mystic Seaport and Aquarium on the CT shoreline, Boston, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos and Museums in CT, Nautilus Museum in Groton CT...

Or if you are really slumming, hit the strip clubs in Webster, MA.

Sorry, just got out of work and found that funny. Don't mean to imply that strip clubs are your thing.

Head north to coastal Maine.

Tubing on the Farmington.

I've not been there but you can pretty well spend a full day at Sturbridge. The village has several theme museums. Two I remember are quilts and blacksmithing.

I agree you can spend a day there, I really enjoyed it.
If you are into basketball you could go to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.
The Museum in Springfield is interesting also.
The main street in Sturbridge use to be a hubbub of shops and outdoor cafes. Many of the places have closed . I would mainly stick to the village.

I demonstrate blacksmithing at Hancock Shaker Village. It's worth the time, if you've got it. Many great buildings to look through, including the Round Stone Barn. The Shakers were very progressive about everything but procreation.

I'd say Cape Cod, but it's tourist season pretty heavily now.

I guess I am from a different generation. A free weekend without the kids was call for a pleasant afternoon, a good dinner in a nice restaurant, and the best hotel room we could aford...preferably with a jacuzzi or hot tub.
