Does anyone ever?
Does anyone ever just sit on your land and listen to the quiet? I have caught myself plenty of times just listening to the trees being shaken by the wind. Prettiest instrument I have ever heard are the sounds of nature. I love to hear the cicadas my favorite sound since childhood. What are some of your favorite sounds from the country?

Crickets! I hear them outside now. A sure sign of late summer.

I love listening to the creek as it gurgles along over the rocks, then in the evening, we get the frog chorus, singing along. It's the place where I go to untangle my mind.

Frogs in the spring at dusk. Birds at sunrise. The most awesome stillness after it snows. A light rainshower falling on the trees.

My favorite passtime. Right now we here the corn critters...a sure sign that it's almost corn cutting time and my favorite time of the year is almost here...fall in all its glory.

Last I just really stood and "listened" to nature was July of 2006 standing out in the field on the old home farm in Sebeka, MN. It was amazing, no planes/cars/people...just the sounds of nature...it was great!

Ahhhhhhh peace, not really quiet. Nature has a lot of different sounds. Horses munching & nickering, chickens clucking, bees buzzing, the wind, dogs digging after voles and so much more.
And the night has different sounds. I love to take night walks, look at the stars.

My mom laughs when she comes to visit that it's too quiet - I never have the radio or TV on. It's not quiet - it's the sounds of nature that I love! That's my entertainment.

And little frogs in the early spring.
The wind moving across my hill.

I'll never forget coming out here a couple of weeks before we moved in. We had come out to do some painting and were walking around before dusk dreaming about what was to come. I stopped and said shhh...do you hear it? My wife said what? I don't hear anything. My response was "exactly"! We moved from our small town just a half block from the highway where you could always hear cars, semis, sirens etc! I just love the country sounds!

One time
I was trying to teach my daughter how to ride her bike with out training and she was pitching a fit so I walked away and let her pitch. Well I left our driveway and stepped onto the tractor path that is our road and the wind whipped up and blew across my face. I closed my eyes and felt the warmth of the sun and it basked me in light. I opened my eyes to see the field full of soon to be harvested crops and their sway made me move with them. I spread my arms and let the feeling of it all engulf me. I felt closer to God than I ever had before and I felt him speak to me and say this is your home so stay awhile......... Man I need to go to my land tomorrow I miss it soooo much.

I have had a lot of people out here and in about an hour they all come up to me and say how quiet it is. But in all truth it is very noisy. The bees the trees in the wind and such When it gets quiet I look for what they are telling me is coming.

The greeting from my goats, the rooster, the verbal demands of the cow, the nickering of the horses. (The goats are mine, everybody else belongs to my neighbor). And the sound of the first peepers in the spring.

Sitting out in the hayfield, looking over the pastures with the cattle grazing is the best mental therapy I have ever found.

Ah....the sounds of nature....nothing can really describe the feelings of contentment and peace of it all. There is just too much to name....but a few of my favorites are the loons calling, the wind rustling the leaves on a cottonwood tree, water lapping the shore, frogs, crickets, birds singing, the cardinals whistling, a train whistle in the distance....I could go on and on.....

Rabbits munching
Its a bit noisy around here due to the roads. But late evenings when I go to barn and give all the rabbits hay it a quiet sound of contented animals munching. Its amazing how quiet they will be (no banging water dishes) just chomping on their hay. Its really a nice stress relief time.

My beautiful sound for me is a sweet lady's voice saying, "Come on in Will, suppers ready."
