knob lock and deadbolt question.....

I just bought a new steel entry door and installed it. I just installed the locking mechanisms made by Atlas. I am not sure these are the best but I got them at menards for a good price.

Well, I installed the top deadbolt. Then when I installed the bottom, I had to turn it upside down. Is there a way to turn the doorknob lock 180 degrees....

Hope this makes sense....

If you want the locks in the deadbolt and the lock in the knob to have the same orientation I believe you can turn the deadbolt to match the knob lock.

Not sure which one is upside down by your description. Locks should have the cyl. installed so the cuts in the key face up when inserting into lock. This keeps dirt out of the tumblers.
Some knob locksets are reversible. Some have a push in button on the side of the knob to disassemble it.

Yes. I had the same problem. The locking mechanism itself (cylinder?) will turn upside down inside the whole thing. I had to mess with it as it doesn't turn easily.

They make them that way now so they don't have to make right & left door knobs/handles.

Bingo. We have installed a couple of the Atlas locks for people - they are OK for a cheap lockset although I perfer Schlage personally. They tend to hold up better over time.

Most any lock set will do. It is the frame that is the weakest point. What I did was to screw the frame into a stud with long screws and that way they can't tear it up and get in. They can tear it up but not get in. Every thing is set to a stud even the strike plate with long screws. I had to use 4 inch screws to get into a stud.
