Case knife question?

Has anyone on here ever sent a Case knife back for repair at the factory?
I buy a lot of knives and I bought five Saturday at a flea market. Just fair knives, but among them was a Case older knife in new condition, except someone had broken about 1/2" of the big blade off and robbed the case ensigna off the handle. Don't know if case will repair or replace? Does anyone know where to send it to have repaire or replaced. I have been told by several individuals that Case would. I don't know. Would appreciate any information. Thanks!

The damage was surely done with abuse rather than it being a workmanship issue. Therefore the damage would not be covered by warranty.

My brother sells equipment to a high-end knifesmith. He gave my brother a couple of knives. He told me that his knives are guaranteed as long as he is alive. If someone sends him a knife with a broken tip, he'll fix it and send it back to the owner with a screwdriver.

I'd contact Case and send it in. The worst they can do is send it back with a note that says quit buying secondhand knives at flea markets. I've heard their repair policy is comparable to Walmart's return policy...just about anything goes.

I sent one back that had lost the ensignia out of the handle. They replaced that and polished and resharpened the blade to new specs. I would have just as soon they hadn't done that as I prefer to sharpen to my specs.

I would definitely send it in and ask. The ensignia I'm sure they'll replace free. Even if they charge a small fee to repair the blade it would still be less than a new Case knife.

My DD owns a feed store and sells Case knives. A customer ask her to return a knife, which she did and they sent it back and said the knife was broken due to misuse and was not due to workmanship. I imagine case got tired of replacing knives with broken blades caused by people misusing them and had to change their policy.
