Name that critter!

I had some traps for muskrats, in my pond, that the dogs must have chased away.

Anyway, I forgot about one trap and the other day found this carcass attached. At first, I thought it maybe one of our cats, that are constantly turning up missing, but remembered that their fur won't darken in the sun as they decompose.

The brown tail is in image #4.

The foot looks like a red fox to me, but the muzzle appears more feline...I'd have to guess fox.

A red fox would have a white tip on it's tail.

I'd guess fisher or marten, something from that family anyway. Bit light coloured for a fisher but it's been out a while.

Looks like a immature chupacabra. I would stay clear of the area. Put all pets up at night. Where there are young ones, there are parents. You don't want to mess with them!

I think it's a dead critter... Do I win?
Long whiskers- almost ottery, but the teeth don't look quite right. Fisher sounds good to me.

Whatever he is, he looks angry. Very very angry. Come back from the Great Beyond with a vengeance angry.

His ears look more rounded than a fox's to me

The critter is definately a mustelid, the only question is which one. I can't tell enough about the size to tell you which one. Don't know where in Indiana you are, but it is likely either a mink or a weasel. I does not appear big enough, and the head is not broad enough for an otter. If you can tell me the length of the head and body and the tail, I can likely tell you which species.

The ears are much too big for a mink. I'm not familiar enough with the larger mustelids to say about them.

Can you get a rough measurement on the skull? That would help to narrow it down.
