Wild rabbits

I've been taught to not eat summer rabbits, but doggone, they've been feasting on the garden and I know they have had good food. What is it that makes them unsafe to eat?

A lot of them have worbles {sp} or some call the wolf fly larva.I just took 3 out of one of our tame rabbits today. Cold weather usually gets rid of them. Sam

Rabbits carry a disease(and I can't spell it-its something close to tulermia, tulmeric or something like that) its called rabbit fever for short. Its very easy to get it in warm weather when dressing freshly killed wild rabbits. It really is not safe to dress them till colder weather. I had a friend cath it so I know its still around.

I know you didn't ask but you can spray a mix of cinnamon & mint leaves-in the blender w/water-and that will keep them out of the garden.
