Excellent Homesteader read

Found a great book that covers nearly every aspect of the homestead life.

Building rock walls, building timber frame barns, digging wells, hydro/wind power, making soap, butchering, pickling, raising bees, quilting rugs, etc. etc.

It's an older book, but really a helpful book and cool to look at, with great illustrations. It's about 350 pages.

Readers Digest books "Back to Basics', published in 1981. Half.com has them for a low as $2.01.

I found mine a a garage sale for 50 cents

yep, that's a good one I love yard sale prices on books. i've seen that same book bring $10 at a small weekly auction near us ... the kind of auction where books normally go by the box for $1!

I got mine at a garage sale, too. Hubby (who has degrees in math and physics) read it and said, "I could so build you a cabin!" Of course time and money have prevented him from building said cabin, but we do referrr to that book often.

I also have it and but don't remember where I got it. I've had it for years. Lots of good stuff in it. I also have and use Carla's book.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered the book and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
