Acre question

If 10 acres were square, how many linear feet would that be? I'm trying to figure about how many feet I would need for perimeter fencing

Each side of a square 10 acre field is 40 rods long. A rod is 16.5 feet.
Are you going to figure out the total feet or do you want me to do it? LOL <>UNK

I come up with 2640 if my math is right.

10 acres = 435600 sq ft

which = 660x660

which = 660x4sides=2640

OK here goes. There are 43560 square feet in an acre. Ten acres equal 435600 square feet. the square root of that is 660. That means each side would be 660 feet. Four equal sides would be 4 times 660 or 2640 linear ft.

Hope this helps

Dan

You will need 8 rolls of woven wire. It comes in 330 ft rolls. Or for a five strand barb wire yer lookin at 80 rod rolls, which translates to 1320 ft each. Since your perimeter is double that, and you want 5 strands then you need 10 rolls. If you go with 4" width pickets with a two inch gap it will take 5280 pickets plus 528 ten foot 2x4s to nail them to along with about 30,000 nails and 524 wood posts and a mess of whitewash.

Gotta watch them decimal points, with that much fencing you can go around 100 acres.

Most everyone is more or less correct in their estimates - that is as long as the 10 acres are FLAT.
If not flat then you will most likely end up a millimeter, inch, foot, yard, meter, or more off.

That is quite true, but the average property that is square is usually relatively flat as well. Plus they sell wire stretchers for a reason.
