Garden/Sun Hats for Big Head?! Frustrated!
Ugh! How impossible is it to find a garden hat if you do not fall into the "one size fits most" or "one size fits all" categories?! Good grief. I am trying to find a wide, floppy brimmed straw-type garden hat and I must have looked at 2 dozen different websites. There isn't a single one (that I've found yet) that offers women's hats over 58cm/22.8in! I already have a hat of that size and it is too tight. I think I need something that falls into the 7 1/2 - 5/8 hat size category. My measurements are 23.5in or approx. 60.5cm.
Does anyone have a site they can recommend? I have spent way too much time on this so am giving up and hoping you can help me!! Thanks so much!
Erin
Note: The reason it needs to be the wide (but not super, movie-star wide) brimmed and straw-type is because I was given one as a gift and it is too small. The intentions were so good and I am sad to have to tell the person that it didn't fit. I know I COULD...I just don't WANT to, so I was hoping to find one that looked similar.

Got mine at a Theisen's farm supply store, the brand is Dorfman Pacific. The one I have is sun-resistant nylon, and foldable, but they do make straw hats as well. I have a huge head too, and they're size XL is almost too big. Good luck!

I got mine at Tractor Supply. I have accumulated 5 that I use at least every other day. All are the same and I have a 7 3/4 hat size. If you can't find one I'll check at my tractor supply tomorrow for you.

If it's not way too small you could try getting it wet and putting it on your head to see if that will stretch it out some. That has worked for me before.

BIG hats
sunday afternoon hats(on line). They have large sizes!! I have their adventure hat-bought it at an airshow_ and it's the only hat i wear outside!!! I love it cause it protects my neck. They are NOT cheap, but I've had mine for years and it still looks great after MUCH wetar. They have a size chart so you can pick a larger -to fit- size.good luck. Let me know if you find one you like!

I wear Tilley hats. Very expensive, but one of the few that will fit my size 8 melon.

My humongous information filled brain won't tolerate any girlie man sized hats... about the only thing that works for me is a sombrero... they're sized so that they'll fit anybody from a baby up to a mule...

Semi-formal summer hats at the fancier department stores. They work fine in the garden.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies and suggestions!! I'd tried stretching the hat (I really wanted it to fit!!), but it is still tight enough that it gives me a headache in no time. I will check out the websites and other locations that you mentioned and let you know what I find out. At least I now know that I am not the only one w/ the problem, lol!! Thanks again!!!

I am sorry. I am the opposite. I go to the stores find really cute hats and they are too big. I can fit it if I have all my hair up and add a scrunchy. Western stores have hats that go by size. I will be interested in seeing what comes up for websites.

I love my sombrero. I get some stares, but stay shaded.
I just wish i could find a real one instead of the straw or felt ones.

I wear a 7 and 3/4 size hat. Got a great sun hat at Target, of all places.
My MIL just gifted me with a cute straw hat. She also has a generously sized head (all the brains, dontcha know?) and we usually have luck closer to big cities/malls.
