can you bake successfully in a gas grill?

We are trying to limit our baking in our home since lately its been around 100. I got this hankering for beer bread. Any suggestions?

go for it

I've baked both lasagna and apple pie in a gas grill. Get a thermometer, keep an eye on it and you're good to go. If I recall I had to prop open the lid an inch or two to maintain +/- 350.

Yes you can bake on a gas grill. You may want to consider a multi feature tabletop oven and a bakers rack though.

Keeping my kitchen cool was one of the two reasons when my wall oven died, I opted for a $80 Hamilton Beach two rack conventional / convection / rotisserie pizza oven with timer from walmart.com ( the other was a replacement wall unit was $700).

I keep my oven on a wheeled table and roll it out onto the porch in warm weather. In winter the tabletop oven reduces my heating costs.

The useable inside dimentions of the tabletop oven are only 1/2 inch smaller than the wall unit and I often remove one rack to accomodate my dutch oven or deep skillet.

Mine has served me well for 5 years and the rotiesserie can handle up to a 4 pound chicken or a small rack of ribs. I also built a wire cage to fit on the spit to roast coffee beans and peanuts.

My dead wall unit is now used only to store cookware in and the door is added counter space when required.
