Circumference to diameter

Hey everyone!
I have a question and I can't figure it out, never have been very good at math
I am trying to figure out the size of my round pen (for horses). I have 10 - 10' panels and one 9' panel with a gate.
So I figured my Circumference is 109', right? So then I divided that by 3.1416 (which is pie i believe).
That gives me 34' diameter.... right? So my pen is only classified as a 34' round pen?
It just seems so small. I know it _is_ small but I just want to be sure I figured correctly.
Thanks!!

Aly

Looks right to me.

34 times 3.14 is 106.something.

My memory says circumference = 2 (pi) R, where r= radius. Since diameter is 2 times radius, I would say your calculation looks right.

Circumference = 2 (pi) Radius

Circumference = (pi) Diameter

Thanks Everyone!! Slightly depressing cuz I realize that's quite little for a round pen. Guess we'll have to make due though.

Your calculations are within reason, however you need to add a few inches for heavy duty posts, and by the way, Pie is a round tasty treat, Pi is a mathematical term equal to roughly 3.14 often used in determining approximate calculations of area and circumference of circles. Since your pen is not a true circle but rather an eleven sided geometric figure............. Ok, its gets complicated but 34 feet is about right for a round pen. that gives you room to work with a 12 foot lunge line, with ample room around the outside.

Unless your looking for real accuracy. The diameter of a circle is roughly 1/3rd the circumference.
