can you eat cauliflower leaves?

Title line says it all. We square foot garden, and the cauliflower is starting to crowd the beans. We need to trim leaves (which are HUGE). We were wondering if they cand be eaten (without ill effects, other than gas), should be composted or fed to the chickens....

Thanks!

YES!

in fact, in the case of broccoli, the broccoli leaves have more vitamins and minerals than the head....broccoli leaves are one of the most nutritious things you can eat..

Great, I was thinking about 'adapting' the freezer slaw recipe in the BBB to include califlower (and now) broccoli leaves!

We very rarely cook our cauliflower or broccoli. Then then it is when it is pickled

I've been eating a "salad" with torn up kohlrabi leaves and a wilted dressing. Our broccoli and cauliflower leaves look like swiss cheese from the cabbage worms though.
