cheese press

Can anyone give me a design for a cheese press? The one I made is getting worn out and I am hoping someone might have a better design that I can try this time.

Thanks, Happy

This is what I use. You can either make your own, or buy one from them.

I made a home made press similar to the Cheesypress but with out the spring and screw. I just so happens that one red brick = 5 lbs. So I juste staked up the bircks to the proper weight. My press had 4 long bolts one in each corner. I placed the follower into the tube, put a large tomato can on top of the follower so that it stuck up above the top of the tube and staked bricks on top of a board balanced on the can and held in place with the four bolts that thread through both the top and bottom boards. The tube was the filling in a board sandwich sort of speak.

I have a picture some where will see if I can find it.

Thanks for the input! I had made one similar to the cheesypress as well but out of plywood, coffee can, nuts and bolts to put on pressure. But as it says on the cheesypress website, ones made of wood tend to mold and warp! I guess I will attempt to make another one out of some maple cutting boards with a 6 inch pvc pipe and this time probably try some barbell weights or bricks for the pressure. DW says she has a hard time judging how far to turn the bolts on the current one I made so maybe the weights will work better.

This may be too late...

I like the cheese press at Fiasco Farms made from 2 wooden cutting boards.
