I drove well under 1000 total miles last year, most of it in a 4wd F250 gettin around 12 mpg. Cost far more per mile for the insurance than it did for the gasoline even with record price for gasoline. Insurance company didnt care if I drove 10 miles or 1,000,000,000 miles, they wanted same amount.

And Mahindra site doesnt differentiate between 2wd and 4wd. I wonder what their 4wd single cab pickup with 5 spd would get. Small 4wd pickups are notorious for rather mediocre mileage. Sorry I still dont get reasoning behind a 4 door pickup with tiny, tiny little box. Who buys such useless things??? Better to buy a SUV and have tow hitch to tow utility trailer when you need it.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. If you don't want to pull anything but a 6x8 trailer and don't want to haul anymore than it was designed for you are great. But if you want to pull a horse trailer or haul some cattle from one pasture to another you are out of luck. If you are the type to haul 40 lbs of dog food and call that a load then you are great but if you went to the feed mill and got a ton of food it will be hard on the truck so you may be out of luck. When it says 2300 pounds of capacity it means your weight and the weight of the fuel and the weight of anything else you put on it including accessory's for the 2300 pounds.

It says the payload is 2,765 lbs and has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity. That's plenty for hauling my cows and a ton of feed.

Aren't those that Indian brand? Can't tell you much about it, but that my friends who live in India and Nepal think it is a pretty well made machine, and they haul all kinds of stuff with it. Has a pretty good reputation over there. Also, they don't cost near 22,000 USD in India!

No WAY I am I. I just checked it a few months ago on the freeway pulling my pony trailer on the interstate doing 60 MPH. It IS a 5 Speed Manual Overdrive Tranny~!!!! So a LOT of shifting. And I still have the "Window sticker" from when it was new, and even that says 19 city 25 Highway MPG~!
I swear, I am NOT streaching the truth one bit.
Oh I did forget to say it IS a V-6 ~! 4.3 ~!!

My old 77 Ford F-100 with a 300 inline six got 24 mpg with a three on the tree. On the interstate it drops to about 18 mpg at 70 mph but still not bad.

My 92 Chevy 4WD with 4.3 and 5 spd got 22-23 all it's life until I put in a different rear end. Now it gets about 21 mpg. I believe you.

Its also equal to a full sized GMC 1/2 ton
though thats not surprising my 90 dakota got 25 mpg and would haul as much as a full size . One also has to keep in mind that anyone who uses a truck will exceed the hauling and towing capacity. Its just a given .
heck I often haul 2 yards of rock or sand with the dakota on a single axle trailer , grossing over 8,000 .
my wife brought home 9,450 of AB3 in the back of her 3/4 ton dodge, good thing we have 12 ply tires . I'll dare ya to put nearly 5 ton on a chevy 1 ton let alone a 3/4 ton

If I need a ton of feed, I pick up the phone and have it delivered...price per bag is the same as a 50lb'er bought at the store.

No, more likely uses for a pick-up are throwing a couple of hundred pounds of feed or fertilizer in the back, hauling a load of firewood or dirt, or maybe towing a trailer with a couple of cows or a few hogs.

Although the most likely thing most folks do with a pickup is give their tails a ride, up and down the road...

I'd rather have the clap.

If it comes to only junk like that I'll walk.

What size engine does it have? There are a lot of 4 cylinder engines out their that get good mileage if it is driven on level roads. Where I live you will be shifting the transmission constantly to get up the next hill. Some of us live in the real mountains and a 4 cylinder will not do good their. In my full size 4x4 Chevy 1/2 ton truck I get 23 to 25 miles per gallon on the highway between Marshall and Little Rock.

22K?...It looks interesting but I would rather have a 1988 S-10, Ranger, or Toyota for 2K if I was looking for a small truck.

I would assume its turbocharged. I dont think you could sell a non-turbo diesel in American market anymore unless you were selling it super cheap. Unless engine is way oversized, a non-turbo diesel is SLOW. I would imagine power will be comparable to other small pickups.

$22k is not cheap even in todays inflated dollars. I think they are going to have problems selling an unknown third world brand for that much. The Mahindra tractors are gaining a respectable reputation, but name not going to be widely known to small truck buyers.

It depends on the needs of the individual. I drive so few miles anymore, that only a cheap old truck that I can work on is economic for me. Course I have plenty of time to putter with them, mix and match parts, and re=engineer things if necessary to keep them economical. Hopefully the govt doesnt try to force me into modern world of the new, expensive and unnecessarily complicated. I'd just have to hire everything hauled and forget owning a vehicle. Or move to a third world country that doesnt try to micromanage my life for me. One where if you dont cause trouble for local dictator, they pretty much leave you alone.
