That was my first thought, but it's a measurement. I THINK it's around 1 foot something....but what does the 3 and 8 signify?? Not 3/8"??

Is this a landscape blueprint, an electrical blueprint, a house dimentional blueprint, or what?

Does it come from a hired archetect, from a pre-packaged building, a plumber, a surveyer, or....

Going to help to know the details, every little sub-section of the building industry has a little different connotation and the same number could mean something different coming from a different trade.

It's a house building blueprint. I haven't seen it yet...my son just called me. He's building it for someone else and he's never seen such a thing before. I believe they bought the blueprint from probably a book of blueprints.

I may have to run over there and see if there are other "measurements" using the same notation. A friend that I just called that has a degree in drafting said that maybe it refers to some building code and isn't a measurement at all. It's so hard to tell over the phone from my son's short description.

It may be a typo error. When you buy it from a book they have typo errors all the time.

back measure most blue prints are to a scale (or just use a scale and see what it is), and usually there just a basic guide as most of the time there will be something that is not exactly correct, out of square a little or so on, and one will have to stretch or shrink things to make it workout,

some times that means 1 foot 3 inches 8 sixteenths but without seeing how it is being used it is hard to tell

Most likely feet-inches-sixteenths

The print should have the measurement standard defined in the specs.
