I have the wood frames from about 8 bunk beds and want to configure some sort of creative fencing. I was wondering how to preserve the pine wood for outdoor use.

Thanks to you, now I know, cheaply!

The LDL-50 (the amount of a substance it takes to kill 50% of the test animals) for ordinary antifreeze--ethylene glycol--is about 5 grams per kilogram of test animal. For the supposidly enviromentally friendly ethylene glycol that this recipy uses it is 20g/kg. In other words it only takes four times as much of the EG to kill something as it does the PG. This stuff will leach out every time the wood gets wet.

I would not recomend this recipe; it isn't safe for exposed wood.
