SkeeterVac - do they really work?

Do these propane powered mosquito things really work at controlling the mosquito population while trying to enjoy your property, or while having barbecues with a group of people over and such? The reviews look pretty good but I wonder how effective they really are?

If you are going to have people over do you need to start the thing days in advance so that the day of the get-together is mosquito free?

According to the site you provided, sounds like it runs 24 hours a day all summer.

This product will provide the following when used as directed :

Attract, trap and kill certain flying biting insects such as mosquitoes, no-see-ums, midges, sand flies and black flies.
Reduce the nuisance of certain flying biting insects.
Over a 4 to 6 week period reduce the overall mosquito populations by exterminating egg laden female mosquitoes.
The SkeeterVac mosquito trap is designed to be operated 24 hours a day to help reduce the nuisance of mosquitoes. It attracts female mosquitoes that are seeking a blood meal to nourish their eggs. By removing these females you also remove their eggs. Attracting, trapping and killing just one mosquito at the start of the mosquito season can prevent the birth of up to 25,000 more mosquitoes that season alone!

We have a different type (I think it is called a Nosquito). We border a creek/wetlands area in Florida, and while the mosquitos are kept out of the deck area by the screen, the no-see-ums are brutal. Without this, we would not be able to sit outside in the evening, or anytime on really humid days. It does work.
