flies by door of the house

We have 100+ deg heat and now the flies are taking over the world. The dogs are hanging out in front of the main door and the flies are so bad you can't get in w/o letting in half a dozen flies. I love summer. really.

They are even hanging out at the doors the dogs are not near. What spray can I use or what can I do to get rid of them? The fly swatter in the house is about to break.

If you can get QuickBayt from the feed/garden/farm store, it works wonders on the fly population. It is a little tiny pellet that you sprinkle on your windowsills or hang it in a container from a rafter(to keep it away from everything), or anywhere else that your dogs can't get too. It attracts the flies and instantly kills them. The floor will be littered with dead flies, just sweep them up and your done.
Works better than any spray ever tried and I like the fact that is sits there and doesn't go anywhere which is another thing I dislike about sprays. Really great flykiller.

Fly traps work, too, on the same principle of wasp traps. Attracts the buggers & drowns them. I was told they stink but they don't - they just don't smell good. Depends on your nose, I guess.

Them fly tapes are cheap, check the dollar store. Fly spray only works while you spray it, them tapes work 24/7. Easy to change, easy to throw away.

And they go with any decor...

I have used the fly tapes, and they do work well, however, I have caught baby birds on them as well. The liquid fly traps REEK!!! They smell like a dead animal after a while, unless you change them out very frequently, which can get expensive!

There was a thread last year about flies and some folks say a ziplock bag filled with water will keep them away. They think its a wasps nest That would be a good place to find out for sure, then let US know. lol Eddie Buck http://homesteadingtoday.com/showthr...s+ziplock+bags

I have tons of flies this year and no luck with the baggies of water or fly tape...I am going to check into the bait.....we also bough a large, stinky fly trap but it doesnt catch enough to be worthwhile!
I also bought two new fly swatters which are quickly wearing out!

I use the baggie filled with water (and a splash of white vinegar to keep it from turning green) and it works for me. I just hang it from a hook that's up there for the Christmas lights. I never knew why this works before though!
