Apple Cider Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide

Hello everyone,

We are trying to incorporate apple cider vinegar and hydrogen peroxide into our livestock's drinking water. We are farming organically and are looking for a source that sells bulk of both these items. Does any know of a source?

Thank you for considering this.

Welcome to the forums. Generally grocery stores carry both distilled vinegar and cider vinegar. I'm only guessing, but Sam's Club might have cider vinegar in multipacks. I have bought distilled vinegar there in two gallon jug cartons.

As to peroxide I don't know if it need to be food grade or not but beauty supply stores carrying---HOWEVER in much stronger solutions.

Now, welcome to the forums. I hope you will enjoy them and find them to be of your benefit.

why put hydrogen peroxide in the drinkingwater? What does it do?

I'm thinking you're maybe looking for the powder? It would be easier to ship and use....

anyway. cider vinegar powder at http://www.spicebarn.com/cider_vinegar_powder.htm in 40lb bags is at $5.99 a lb (I think it's a oz to a gallon? can't remember the ratio)

Kind of depends on if you want liquid or powder and where you're located(shipping can kill you)...you can find 55gal drums online, also 5gal containers. You might want to check with your local grocery store (not walmart or sam's...I don't think they can special order) to see if they can special order from a supplier for you. I've seen Sysco's ordering catalog for stores and it has huge bulk containers for almost everything.

We used hydrogen peroxide in our swimming pool, so it would be safe to consume in much smaller quantities. It came in gallon jugs, and much stronger than the stuff in the brown bottles in the stores. The brand name was "Bacqacill" I think, and came from the swimming pool supply store. One gallon was enough to shock a 10,000 gallon pool once a month.

There was a previous post from someone warning about apple cider "flavored" vinegar, so be sure to read the fine print of whatever you buy. If it seems really cheap, it's probably imitation.

Thank you for your responses.

The apple cider vinegar we are currently using is the same vinegar that we use in pickling and various other applications. It is raw organic unflitered. It is not flavored but the real thing. As we are endeavoring to stay organic, we want to find a source that is organic. There many health benifits.

Hydrogen peroxide helps in many ways helping to prevent and possible cure diseases. In general, better overall health Have been searching on the internet and found quite a bit from that. I have collected information, but I do not have the sources to give credits to.

The best is to combine the two together.

Both Acres USA and The Stockman Grass Farmer are excellent sources for information on both.

Hydrogen peroxide breaks down skin cells and can destroy tissue.

Its used as a bleach and antiseptic.
It is used sometimes to induce vomiting in animals

I dont think I would feed it to any of my animals, period.

You know how you hear a lot bout how healthy anti-oxidents are? Oxigen and other oxidizers that are not boud to hemoglobin are very bad for living tissue. Peroxide is one of the worst. It is so reactive thought that I doubt if it would be peroxide for more than an instant after it hit the contents of a stomach, but then it wouldn't do any good either. In small doses, it might kill germs in the water, but beyond that it will do no good and may do harm.
