oddity

check out my new best friend...well never mind it won't let me post a photo..but you can see it on my facebook page if you want to check it out there..BrendaKayGroth at Facebook..or on www.permies.com under leafcutter bees

we were watching this bee making her nest in the lock mechanism of our patio door..she kept going in with pieces of leaves..took a long time of patience to get a photo cause she was a quickie !!!!

so then I came in and download my photos and went on line to find out about her..googled "leafcutter bees" and came up with this

http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/insect/05576.html

guess she can stay..and her babies too

Nice pic. I know how hard it can be to get bug shots.

We had those bees in NM. They would make their nests the rosecanes and never hurt anybody that I could tell.

She's a beautiful little thing! It's important to keep bees around and not kill them. I have a little friend, too, but it's not a bee -- it's a darling raccoon who comes around every night. I put out fresh drinking water for it every night. It also washes its hands in the water.
