Angry I'm sick of it already!

This has already been the hottest summer we've had in years and it's just starting TODAY!

We've had highs over 100 (not heat index, temperature) for days and it's not supposed to let up till late this week. I'm ready for October.

I just have to keep reminding myself of the blizzards, white-outs, and ice storms I saw those pictures of back in January and February.

I feel your pain. Here in southern Kansas, it has been in the high 90's to low 100's and lots and lots of humidity. That usually doesn't start til July or later. We have been very fortunate to have had really nice summer weather the last few years. It is back to the usual this year. My AC has quit working in the car too, so all trips have to be carefully planned to avoid heat stroke.

I used to live in south Florida and don't miss it a bit. The humidity was so high that I went thru a box of dusting powder a week. Once I hung my shirt on the back of a door knob, went back in two days and it had MOLDED!!!

I'm no fan of extreme heat either. And if we ever get some I'll let ya know.

Friday when I got in the car, the outside temp was showing as 100*.

So the actual temp has been about 100, and with the heat index just over 100 the past 3 days. I think today should be only about mid 90's.

Summer is HERE!

We've already dug the potatoes, planted okra behind them, and planted the second round of green beans.

Nine months out of the year this really is a great place to live. It's just brutal from about late June to late September.

I certainly dont miss the hordes of mosquitos, the fire ants, or the humidity.

We don't have air conditioning here, we open the windows and let the breeze come through. Also our ceilings are 10ft downstairs.
We can sit outside in the evenings and not get eaten alive.

Would I go back to GA? Or visit FL?

No way.

Rose
Yeah, we have some friends who live near Marion. I've always thought that eastern TN, western NC, or western VA in the mountains would be the nearly perfect place to live.

We're considering buying some property up there to at least have a place to go in the summer when I retire.

We're already very hot, and very dry, too. I just remind myself that I'd much rather have a few months of heat than to have cold the better part of the year. I am much more heat tolerant than cold tolerant, and the heat doesn't last so long.

I'd be very happy, though, if we could get some drought breaking rains.

Thank you fishhead, I needed that breath of cool air.

Hot and muggy here. Temps in the upper 80s. I'm making plans on moving to the Yukon Territory.

We rented a cottage on Lake Bomoseen about 10 years ago after tent camping at the State Park the year before. It was wonderful.

I wanted to buy the place as it was for sale for 80 grand. The deal breaker was the septic had to be pumped out of the basement holding tank. If I had known how well a composting toilet system could work we might be up there right now trying to get green peppers and tomatoes to grow.

On the other hand, I could still be in my cubicle - 5'9' and 260 lbs, with high blood pressure, headed for a nervous breakdown in a job where politics dictated your actions - not doing what was morally right and sensible - counting the days to a pension that would still be 2 years in the distance.

Thanks for the memory of your beautiful state Shygal.

Arkansas is hot also! We try to get out early in the am and do whatever has to be done; then get inside under the air for the rest of the day. Getting soft in my old age I guess.

I guess I should give the local weather report.

After weeks of mild temps. it got to 88 deg. F. Friday and Saturday, with massive humidity. We needed a fan Friday night - first time this year. Thunderstorms for a week running, and 2 days ago we received one and three quarters inches of rain in 45 minutes.

Its been hot and muggy here in Mo for the last week. The rain is the biggst issue in my opinion. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my second batch of green beans planted. My zucchinie (sp) are actually rotting on the vines because of the moisture, and they are only 4 inches long!
